About Us

HATCHI CREW

Maik: A self-employed engineer who loves anything to do with sailing. Give him a beer and his German accent might just disappear. Alexandra: A stay-at-home mom who will never turn down your offer to babysit. She looks forward to the day when she can complete her doctorate (a degree her husband claims she'll never use). She enjoys not getting sea sick. Kais: A spontaneous wild child. His mother regrets the day she asked for him to "stay wild, my child". He is a great big brother to his baby sister, except for the times he sit on her head. Lila: The newest edition to the family. She smiles for days. Her favorite hobby is pulling out her big brother's curly blonde hair.

SAILING DREAMS

We want to be Diasporas and we are on our way to make it happen. We don't want to move to a place and settle. We want to move and continue moving, seeing what the world has to offer. We want to get a taste of the different cultures, languages and food. We want to socialize in an environment that is completely foreign to us. We do not want to do this part time but would like this to be the story of the rest of our lives. We want to go sailing! The problem with all these wants is we need money to make them happen. We do not have the privilege of sailing to sail full time, but we know one day this will come true.

HOW WE MET

Believe it or not, Alexandra and Maik met online! It so happened that on August 18, 2010, Alexandra and Maik were surfing the web, visiting the same dating website at the same exact time. Maik decided to send Alexandra a message, but because Alexandra was not a paid member of the site, she was unable to communicate for long. So, Alexandra did the only thing that she could do, quickly respond with the name of another messenger account where they could talk without being interrupted. It just so happens that both Maik and Alexandra love sushi. They decided to meet for dinner two days later at a wonderful sushi restaurant uptown Charlotte called Enso. They have been inseparable from that moment on. It only took about a week for them to realize that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Just kidding. Maik presented a beautiful engagement ring to Alexandra on September 20, 2013, which is the same day that they eloped in beautiful Savannah, Georgia. They decided to celebrate this union with their family and friends on August 16, 2014. On this day, Maik presented to Alexandra her wedding band, which signifies the complete union of the family.
