Coming back to Bimini from Nassau, we decided to spend a day at Bimini Blue Water Marina. They only charge $1.00 per foot/night which is much less expensive than their neighbor Bimini Big Game Club. The Marina is not as new but it has a fuel dock, pool and does it’s job.
We went to Radio Beach which is just walking distance to the left of the Marina. There we rented two beach chairs and an umbrella for $20.00 for the whole day. We also purchased food at the restaurant on the beach but the flies made it impossible to eat. They cling to you like a plague. Even if you run to the water they will follow you. We recommend eating before getting there because it is absolutely disgusting to do it with all those flies.
While in the water, a shark swim close to shore and gave everyone a scare. People were running out of the water like your typical Hollywood movie scene. We some cool people from the state and cool locals.
There isn’t much to do in Bimini but it is an island to go to if you’re wishing to have a relaxing vacation. The next day, we wanted to leave bright and early back to Fort Lauderdale but there was huge diesel ship that was refilling the diesel at the gas station. We had to wait over A couple of hours to finally start heading back home.
We left Bimini in the afternoon and arrived to Fort Lauderdale around 9pm. The sail back home was horrible. 8 foot waves made the trip back really dreadful. I didn’t get sick the whole trip until the sail back home. We were happy to make it home safe and sound.
