A couple of years ago Maik and I (and Benny and Celina) went on vacation on Paradise Island, Bahamas. We had purchased a last minute vacation deal to Atlantis. One thing we remembered about this trip was our walk across the bridge near Atlantis to eat local conch salad. Another thing that stood out was walking through Atlantis village and seeing people on their Yacht sitting and drinking wine. Coming back to Nassau on our own boat was a dream come true and we really wanted to spend a night in an Atlantis boat slip.
When we arrived to Naussau, we called Atlantis to find out the slip rate. They told us that it was $7.00 per foot to be at the Marina AND you had to be at least 50 feet to get a slip. This really shut that dream of having our boat right in the middle of Atlantis. Instead, we got a slip at Hurricane Hole Marina which is right next to Atlantis as soon as your cross under the two bridges. The cost for the slip was $3.50 per foot, I believe. It was a great spot too, because we could just cross the street and be in Atlantis in under 5 minutes.
All six of us had a great time in Nassau. We crossed the bridge and had Conch salad at Mackenzie’s. We took a taxi downtown Nassau for some sight seeing and shopping. We walked to the other side of the island near Junkanoo beach and Fish fry to eat really good food at “Andros?”. We spent an evening at Atlantis village listening to music, eating and people watching.
We only spent two days in Nassau but we got to do a lot. The people were absolutely friendly and inviting. We can not wait to go back to Nassau again. Each time we go we form new memories. We wished we could have stayed longer but we had to head back home.
